Physical Therapy by the Garfield Avenue Light Rail
Holsman's Jersey City clinic is at 961 Garfield Ave., about a block from the Garfield Avenue station on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail. That puts us within easy reach of Bergen-Lafayette, Greenville, the West Side and Journal Square, and the light rail links the clinic with the rest of Hudson County.
Our therapists offer physical, occupational and speech therapy for adults dealing with back and neck pain, sports and work injuries, arthritis, stroke, and recovery after surgery. We start by finding out what you need to do again, from carrying groceries up a walk-up to getting back to a physical job, and build the plan around that.
The clinic also offers Holsman's HolStep® and No Fall Protocol® balance and fall-prevention programs, shockwave therapy for chronic tendon and soft-tissue pain, KinesIQ balance and coordination training, and functional capacity evaluations for workers' compensation and return-to-work decisions. We accept Medicare, most PPO plans, workers' comp, no-fault and VA Community Care. Holsman has been treating Hudson County patients since 2004.

Questions About Our Jersey City Clinic
What insurance does the Jersey City clinic accept?
We work with Medicare Part B and most PPO plans, and we treat many patients through workers' compensation (state claims and federal FECA), motor vehicle accident (no-fault/PIP) coverage and the VA Community Care Network. Our Jersey City front desk checks your coverage at no charge, so call 201-932-2656 before you come in.
Do I need a referral for physical therapy in Jersey City?
Not in most cases. New Jersey's direct access law lets you start physical therapy without a prescription, but some insurance plans still require a referral or prescription to pay for it, so we check your plan before your first visit. With Medicare you can start without a referral, but your physician must certify your plan of care, and we coordinate that with your doctor.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, any referral or prescription, and any imaging or surgical reports. Comfortable clothing helps. Your therapist will evaluate you, explain what is going on, and start your treatment plan, usually that same day.
What are the Jersey City clinic's hours?
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM. We are closed Saturday and Sunday.
Can I get to the clinic by light rail?
Yes. The Garfield Avenue station on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail is about a block from 961 Garfield Ave. If you are driving, call 201-932-2656 and we will tell you where to park nearby.
