Physical Therapy on Kearny Avenue
Our Kearny clinic is at 711 Kearny Ave., on the town's main street, where NJ Transit's 76 bus stops along the avenue on its way between Newark and Hackensack. It is a short trip for patients from Harrison, East Newark, North Arlington and Belleville as well as Kearny.
Clinic supervisor Dr. Fatima Santiago, PT, DPT, PCES, leads a team that includes occupational therapist Janneth Gallosa and speech-language pathologist Priyadarsini Kumarasamy. Between them, the Kearny team speaks English, Filipino, Spanish and Portuguese, so many patients can talk through their care in the language they are most comfortable with.
Kearny is one of three Holsman clinics with LiteGait® body-weight-supported gait training, which helps patients relearn walking safely after a stroke, surgery or a serious fall. The clinic also offers physical, occupational and speech therapy, Holsman's HolStep® and No Fall Protocol® balance programs, shockwave therapy, KinesIQ balance training and functional capacity evaluations for work injuries. Holsman has been treating Hudson County patients since 2004.

Questions About Our Kearny Clinic
What insurance does the Kearny clinic accept?
Most patients at our Kearny clinic are covered. We accept Medicare Part B, private PPO plans such as Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare, workers' comp (including FECA for federal employees), auto/MVA no-fault claims and VA Community Care. We verify your insurance free of charge; call 201-535-8555.
Do I need a referral for physical therapy in Kearny?
New Jersey allows direct access, so you can be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without seeing a doctor first. Some insurance plans, however, require a referral or prescription before they will cover therapy. We look up your plan's rules for free. If you have Medicare, no referral is needed to start, but your doctor must sign off on your plan of care, which we arrange.
Do your Kearny therapists speak other languages?
Yes. Dr. Fatima Santiago speaks English and Filipino, and occupational therapist Janneth Gallosa speaks English, Filipino, Spanish and Portuguese. Let us know your preferred language when you book.
What happens at my first visit?
Your therapist will review your history, check your strength, motion and balance, and explain what is behind your symptoms. You will set goals together and most patients begin treatment that day. Bring ID, your insurance card and any referral or prescription.
What are the Kearny clinic's hours?
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM. Closed weekends.
Can I take the bus to the Kearny clinic?
Yes. NJ Transit's 76 bus runs along Kearny Avenue between Newark and Hackensack. If you are driving, call 201-535-8555 and we will tell you the easiest place to park.
