Can’t make it to a clinic? Our licensed therapists bring expert, Medicare-covered care directly to your home — no homebound requirement, no referral needed in NJ. Same-week home visits available.
For many patients in Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Hudson, and Union counties, getting to a clinic two or three times a week is simply not practical. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, caring for family, or simply prefer the comfort and privacy of your own home, our in-home physical therapy services eliminate that barrier entirely.
Research consistently shows that therapy delivered in the patient’s home environment produces strong functional outcomes — particularly for fall prevention, stroke recovery, and post-surgical rehabilitation — because exercises are practiced in the actual space where patients live and move.
Exercises practiced in your actual living space improve real-world function and safety
No driving, parking, or waiting rooms — especially valuable post-surgery or for seniors
Every home visit is dedicated, uninterrupted one-on-one time with your therapist
Medicare Part B covers home PT, OT & speech — no homebound requirement

Our licensed PTs bring hands-on orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation directly to your home. In-home physical therapy services are ideal for patients recovering from joint replacement, spinal surgery, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or managing chronic pain and balance disorders.

Arthritis, COPD, cardiac rehab, and other chronic conditions where energy conservation makes commuting difficult.
One of the most common misconceptions we hear is: “I thought Medicare only covers home PT if I’m homebound.” That applies to the Medicare home health benefit (Part A) — but Holsman’s in-home therapy is billed under Medicare Part B outpatient therapy, which has no homebound requirement whatsoever.
If you have Medicare Part B, you can receive in-home physical therapy, in-home occupational therapy, and in-home speech therapy services simply because you prefer the convenience — no physician order required to start in NJ, and no need to prove you’re confined to your home.
Standard Medicare Part B cost-sharing applies: 80% covered after the annual deductible, with 20% patient responsibility (often covered by a Medigap supplement).

"After my hip replacement I couldn’t imagine getting into a car to go to PT three times a week. Holsman sent a therapist to my home and I made a full recovery without ever leaving. The one-on-one attention was incredible."
"I had no idea Medicare covered home physical therapy without me being homebound. The team handled everything — they called my insurance, set up the visits, and my therapist came right to my living room. Highly recommend."
"The speech therapist worked with my mother at home after her stroke. She was so comfortable in her own house — much more engaged than when she attended the outpatient clinic. Her progress was remarkable."
No. Under Medicare Part B, you do not need to be homebound to receive in-home physical therapy services. Homebound status is a requirement for the Medicare Part A home health benefit — but Holsman’s in-home PT, OT, and speech therapy are billed as Medicare Part B outpatient therapy, which carries no homebound requirement. You can still drive, run errands, and leave your home freely while receiving in-home therapy.
No. New Jersey’s Direct Access law permits patients to begin physical therapy — including in-home PT — without a physician referral for up to 30 days (or 12 visits). After that, a referral is required to continue. Most insurance plans including Medicare Part B cover Direct Access visits. We verify your coverage at no charge before your first visit.
Yes. Medicare Part B covers in-home physical therapy, in-home occupational therapy, and in-home speech therapy when provided by a licensed outpatient therapy practice. Coverage is subject to standard Medicare Part B cost-sharing: Medicare pays 80% of the approved amount after you’ve met the annual Part B deductible, and you pay 20% (or your Medigap plan may cover this). Home health PT (Medicare Part A home health benefit) requires: a physician order, a homebound status determination, and is coordinated through a home health agency. In-home outpatient PT (Medicare Part B) — what Holsman provides — requires none of those. You simply call us, we verify your insurance, and a therapist visits your home. There is no homebound requirement, and in NJ no physician referral is required to begin. It’s the most flexible way to receive in-home physical therapy services.
In most cases we can schedule an initial evaluation within the same week you call. We verify your insurance the same day and coordinate scheduling around your availability. Call 1-855-465-7626 or submit the request form above and our team will be in touch within one business hour.
