Physical Therapy Beside Branch Brook Park
Our Newark clinic is in Suite C104 at 902 N. 5th St., in the Upper Roseville area on the edge of Branch Brook Park. The building sits directly across from the Branch Brook Park station on the Newark Light Rail, so you can ride straight here from Newark Penn Station, and walk-in patients are welcome. Patients also come from Belleville, Bloomfield, East Orange and Kearny.
Physical therapist Audrey Nuesca and speech-language pathologist Priyadarsini Kumarasamy are part of the Newark team. The open therapy gym includes practice stairs and an occupational therapy station, so you can rehearse exactly what you need at home, like climbing the steps to your apartment or reaching into kitchen cabinets.
We treat back and neck pain, sports and work injuries, arthritis, stroke and recovery after surgery, with physical, occupational and speech therapy all offered here. The clinic also provides Holsman's HolStep® and No Fall Protocol® balance programs, shockwave therapy, KinesIQ balance training and functional capacity evaluations for workers' compensation cases. Holsman has been treating Essex County patients since 2004.

Questions About Our Newark Clinic
What insurance does the Newark clinic accept?
Most patients at our Newark clinic are covered. We accept Medicare Part B, private PPO plans such as Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare, workers' comp (including FECA for federal employees), auto/MVA no-fault claims and VA Community Care. We verify your insurance free of charge; call 973-910-2300.
Do I need a referral for physical therapy in Newark?
New Jersey allows direct access, so you can be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without seeing a doctor first. Some insurance plans, however, require a referral or prescription before they will cover therapy. We look up your plan's rules for free. If you have Medicare, no referral is needed to start, but your doctor must sign off on your plan of care, which we arrange.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
Walk-in patients are welcome at our Newark clinic during open hours. Calling ahead at 973-910-2300 is still the best way to get a time that suits you and to have your insurance verified before you arrive.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, any referral or prescription, and a list of medications. Wear comfortable clothes. Your therapist will evaluate you and start your plan, usually with treatment the same day.
What are the Newark clinic's hours?
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM. Closed weekends.
How do I get to 902 N. 5th St. by public transit?
Take the Newark Light Rail to Branch Brook Park station, which is directly across the street from our building. If you are driving, call 973-910-2300 for parking directions.
