What insurance does the E. 180th Street clinic accept?
Yes. Our Bronx clinic accepts Medicare Part B, private PPO plans, workers' compensation (including federal FECA claims), auto accident/no-fault claims, VA Community Care, and most New York managed Medicaid plans, including Fidelis Care, Affinity, Amida Care, VNS Choice and Molina. Do I need a referral for physical therapy in the Bronx?
New York allows direct access for a limited time: a licensed physical therapist with at least three years of experience can treat you for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first, without a referral. Some insurance plans still require a referral or prescription to cover therapy, so we check your plan before your first visit. Medicare patients also need their physician to certify the plan of care, and we coordinate that.
What happens at my first physical therapy visit?
Your therapist reviews your history and any imaging, then tests your strength, range of motion, balance and how you move. Together you set goals and a treatment plan, and most patients start treatment that day. Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, any referral or prescription, and wear comfortable clothes.
