Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy helps children with different kinds of speech problems and language issues. At Holsman Wellness, our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) work to assess, diagnose and treat speech, language social communication, cognitive communication and swallowing disorders in both children and adults. They also provide therapy that helps prevent the onset of such disorders.

To effectively treat our clients with problems in speech and language, an assessment of their condition will be performed first. This helps our SPLs determine the problem and provides them an opportunity to customize a treatment plan that best address the issue. The speech problems that we cater at Holsman Wellness include:

Speech disorders – This occurs when an individual is having trouble in producing speech sounds correctly or fluently. This also includes those who have voice or resonance problems.

Language disorders – Individuals who are having difficulty understanding others or sharing and expressing ideas, thoughts and feelings. This type of disorder can come in the form of oral and written.

Social communication disorders – Individuals who find the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication to be a challenge have this kind of disorder. They find it hard to communicate socially, talk in various ways to suit the listener or follow rules for story-telling. People who have suffered traumatic brain injury may also be affected by this disorder.

Swallowing disorders – Also known as dysphasia, this disorder occurs in people who are having difficulties in swallowing which may follow a surgery, stroke, illness or injury.

Cognitive-communication disorders – People who are having problems organizing ideas, paying attention, recalling, planning or solving problem are diagnosed with this type of speech disorder. This occurs usually to people who had endured a traumatic brain injury, stroke or dementia.
